Janice Osayande enjoyed many classes at San Jac, especially Dr. Higgs’s Anatomy 2 class and the Phlebotomy certification course. Osayande enjoyed working in various clinical labs at San Jac, one memorable clinical lab she worked on dealt with blood pressure.
After graduation, Osayande plans to work as a clinical laboratory technician at HCA before attending nursing school at Texas Women’s University. Throughout her semesters at San Jac, Osayande learned to utilize several resources such as note-taking, flashcards, the blurting method, study groups, and good habits like eating healthy meals and getting enough sleep every night to aid her in passing her courses.
While working at the childcare center, Janice received advice from a former SJC chairman, who told her, “Don’t rush. It is not about how fast you go, but how well you do”. Osayande has held on to this advice to remind herself to take her time and ensure that she not only passes her courses but excels in them too.
Osayande’s advice to future graduates is “Never give up. Take all the opportunities that come your way. Use all the resources from San Jacinto College and take honors classes to help boost your GPA.”
