Graduate: Ndubisi Innocent Arinze

My name is Ndubisi Innocent Arinze. I am majoring in Computer Science. Currently attending the San Jacinto College South Campus. My favorite course was Creative Writing. It introduced me to freedom to get lost in the exploration of ideas beyond the dogmas of formulas and code, and it reminded me that communication is the universal life blood of every modern society. The lesson I learned from SJCD, is to be bold and not to squirm in the face of dissonance or cower at the fear of going against the grain, most of my favorite professors have always encouraged me to chase my ideas down their rabbit holes, reminding me that “the way is up,” but leaving me the freedom to devise my own methods for getting there, its been liberating. Not to say I do not appreciate the absolutism of codes and their 1s and 0s; After completing my associate’s degree in computer science, I plan to pan my pursuit towards a bachelor’s in communications. There is a part of me that longs to write, and I have no intention of ignoring it. Gratitude for the context I was blessed with; family, friends, and mentors who never let me go without encouragement. Most of all, the loudest cheers from my wife outperformed even the largest crowd of well-wishers. They kept me fueled. Allow yourself the luxury of appreciation, in my experience that has made all the difference. Tackling every class, topic and assignment as if it were the real world, allowing yourself to embark on the adventure of learning.
Hello, my name is Alexis Garza and I am graduating with my associates in Natural Science. I have attended South and Central campus but majority of my classes were taken at South. A lesson I will
remember long after graduation is that mistakes are inevitable, and a crucial lesson is learning to view them as opportunities for growth rather than as endpoints. Graduation is not the end of learning but the start of an ongoing process of learning new knowledge and skills through many interests and experiences. I plan to enroll in nursing school and become a BSN RN and eventually get my NP in the future. What helped me achieve this degree was committing to consistent effort, strategic time management and proactive utilization of academic support resources. Advice I would give future graduates is don’t give up nor be afraid of making mistakes instead view them as opportunities to learn and grow. Also don’t wait for opportunities to come to you; create them for yourself.

My name is Jorden Mathews. I am majoring in my general studies and trying to get my associates degree. I go to the Central Campus. My favorite course has to be Humanities, mostly because of the professor and that class was so fun with fun topics. The lesson I will remember is to always try and always do your best. The career choice I’ve been aiming for is something in the video industry. What helped me to earn my degree was hard-work and understanding of the source material given. My advice I can give is to always do your best, that’s all you can do, put in the effort, and do your best. That’s all the professors want from you.
My name is Alyssa Mata. My major is Associate of Science. I attend the central campus of San Jac. Some of my favorite courses are biology, film appreciation, and A:P 2. How you communicate and perform in your classes will carry how you will do in the field you are going into if you don’t do team work or don’t care how you do in classes that will carry to your personal life. I would like to go to MD Anderson to pursue MRI or dosimetry. Then hopefully I will work for MD Anderson. The professors caring about their classes. They want you to do well no matter how you are doing in their class. Studying with other classmates also helps. Study! Many professors know what they are talking about. Many will help if you just ask!
