The San Jacinto College softball team begins the 2026 season with a focus on accountability, discipline, and daily improvement, according to a season preview on the official athletics website.
The Ravens finished third in conference play last year and earned a berth in the NJCAA Region XIV South Division tournament. Now, the program is working to build consistency and strengthen team identity.
Head coach Kelly Saenz said the foundation starts with culture.
“Our main goal is to build a strong team culture and hold each other accountable,” Saenz said in the season preview published on the San Jac Athletics website.
The 2026 roster brings more speed and strength to the group. Saenz said every player in the lineup is capable of contributing to the team.
“We are quicker this year and have the ability to hit the ball consistently throughout the lineup,” Saenz said. “No matter who is in the lineup, they will produce.”
The sophomore class is expected to take on a leadership role this season. The athletics website notes returning players have improved their work ethic and communication. That growth is raising expectations across the team.
Infielder Kamryn DeLeon and catcher Ary Garcia are two important contributors highlighted in the preview. Garcia directs the defense from behind the plate, while DeLeon provides flexibility in the infield.
“Ary controls the infield and outfield so well from her catching position and is a person that will get the team pumped up,” Saenz said. “Kamryn contributes offensively while handling multiple infield positions.”
Despite early results, Saenz said the team’s progress is noticeable.
“Through our first eight games, the scoreboard may not reflect the results we want, but the growth within this team has been undeniable,” Saenz said. “We have become more relentless in our approach, more disciplined in our execution, and stronger in our team chemistry.”
While conference and regional titles remain goals, Saenz said success goes beyond wins.
“A successful season for this group will be measured by our growth from the first pitch to the last, our consistency in competing with toughness and discipline, and our commitment to doing things the right way every single day,” Saenz said.
For San Jacinto College students, faculty, and staff, the softball program continues to build school spirit as the season moves forward. Home games give students a chance to support their classmates, connect outside the classroom, and experience college life beyond academics. The team’s success also brings positive attention to the college.
Entering the 2026 season, the Ravens stay committed to disciplined competition, teamwork, and daily improvement.
