San Jacinto College will host its Foundation Gala April 24 to raise money for the Promise @ San Jac Scholarship.
The event will take place at the LyondellBasell Center for Petrochemical, Energy and Technology at the college’s Central Campus. It is the college’s premier fundraiser and brings together community leaders, donors, and industry partners.
The Promise @ San Jac program gives eligible in-district high school graduates up to three years of tuition-free college. Funds also support student success programs that reduce financial barriers. Andrea Nguyen, director of corporate and foundation relations, said the gala creates opportunities for students.
“Couture for a Cause is more than a gala — it’s a celebration of opportunity,” says Nguyen, “Every dollar raised helps students attend college without debt.”
The event draws corporate partners, elected officials, alumni, and faculty. Organizers say the focus remains on helping students complete their education.
All proceeds support the Promise @ San Jac Endowment. The scholarship covers tuition, books, and supplies, allowing students to focus on school.
“For many students, Promise is the difference between starting college and not attending at all,” says Nguyen.
The gala has raised significant funds in the past few years. In 2024, the event raised nearly $680,000, exceeding its goal.
This year’s theme, “Couture for a Cause,” will include dinner, auctions and networking opportunities. Guests can also participate in activities such as the Punch Wall.
Organizers have already secured more than $850,000 in pledged support, surpassing the $650,000 goal before the event.
“The response from the community has been strong,” Nguyen said. “We expect to exceed our goal again.”
Community members can support the event by attending, donating, or volunteering.
