SJC-Central campus is hosting the last night of auditions November 29 at 6 p.m. for the Christmas Musical: Santa’s Christmas Magic: The Musical. The auditions will be held in the SJC-Central Powell Arena Theatre. Casting for the Elf Chorus for the musical is seeking 50 local children and teens ages 5 to 16.
“The adult cast has already been cast and are working hard on the musical,” writes Jerry Ivins, Artistic Director, Department of Theatre and Film.
Santa’s Christmas Magic: The Musical performances will be December 7-9 and December 14-16 at 7:30 pm and on Sunday, December 10 at 2:30 p.m.
The casting call requires no additional experience needed, registration is not required, and no participation fee. The auditions are open to children and young adults anywhere. If cast, young actors can expect five rehearsals until the show’s opening night. Participants can continue in the musical even if they have conflicts with the rehearsals and/or the performances.
“Most rehearsals are about two hours in length, until one day before the opening of the show,” says Ivins.
The five rehearsal dates are November 30 at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., December 1 at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., December 4-5 at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and December 6 at 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The young actors will appear in up to six scenes and songs during the performance.
Auditions are also available for the Summer Musical Theatre Camp (KidSpot).
