Amairany Deciga, Student Reporter

Amairany Deciga, born on July 28th, 2005, and she has lived in Houston her entire life. She has never moved either, growing up in the same house since she was born. She always had a creative mind, as she loves to write stories, journal her experiences, and write essays on topics of interests. Deciga major is Journalism because she has always loved reading and writing, and wanted to put those qualities into her future career.

Deciga is gaining transfer credits for a degree in communications in hopes to focus on sports and pop culture. Deciga has been watching and adoring sports since she was a kid. They help keep her occupied and happy- and she watches many different ones including: college football, college basketball, and formula 1 racing. Deciga’s favorite NFL team is the Philadelphia Eagles, because the quarterback Jalen Hurts is an alumni of her high school. Formula 1 racing is actually a sport she discovered while traveling around in Europe in 2023. She explored Italy, mainly Rome and was in love with the culture, the city, and overall structure.
Deciga also loves movies, like Back to the Future. While traveling to New York and Deciga met the movie director, Steven Spielberg and was completely starstruck. Other movies she loves is Brokeback Mountain and Perks of Being a Wallflower. Along with reading book genres like, autobiographies, classical literature, and realistic fiction. Deciga also loves writing fiction and often writes ideas down in her journals whenever anything inspiration hits. She enjoys writing eerie endings to her stories to make you wonder what’s next or crazy twists for shock value.

Deciga’s interests in sports and her love of more vintage and older things provides her with a sense of direction for her future career. Deciga plans to transfer to University of Houston to continue her Journalism degree, but she dreams of also transferring to University of Texas-Austin to pursue her goals.
