North Campus Prepares to Host Local Employers at Career Fair

San Jacinto College North Campus will host a Career Fair for students, alumni, and members of the community on Wednesday, Oct 1.

The Fair will take place in the Monument Room of the Slovacek Student Center on North campus from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Career and Employment Department Coordinator, Dinorah Ramos, encourages students to attend the event.

“A job fair is a great opportunity to learn about the workforce, network with employers, and find employment opportunities,” Ramos said.

Currently, 42 employers are registered to attend including employers from the technical fields, state agencies, customer service, sales, environmental services, hospitality industry, and health sciences.

Ramos said students should come prepared to meet prospective employers.

“Dress professionally, bring copies of your resumes, ask questions to employers and be ready to network,” Ramos said.

ACE Fabricators, DOW Emergency, East Regional Medical Center, Houston Independent School District, Harris County Department of Education are a few of the Fair’s featured employers. Meador Staffing, NAPPA Auto Parts, Petronash America, Texas Department of Public Safety, Schaffer Precision Machining LLC will also attend.

North campus is located at 5800 Uvalde Road in Houston.

Ramos said this event is held once a year, usually, during the fall semester.

“Employers are eager,” she said, “to come on campus and hire our students.”
