Kiara Doucet is graduating from the North Campus of San Jac with an Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies. Her favorite course was Interviewing and Investigating, which allowed her to collaborate with peers, particularly during a mock trial where she enjoyed playing the role of an attorney. One of the most valuable lessons she will take from her time at San Jac is a deep understanding of what it takes to be a successful paralegal, including strong communication, organization, legal research and writing skills, and effective time management, all while maintaining professionalism.
After graduation, Kiara plans to work full-time as a paralegal and pursue a bachelor’s degree in Business Management at the University of Houston. Her biggest motivation has always been her mother, who worked tirelessly as a paralegal while attending law school, striving to provide Kiara with the best life possible despite the challenges of living with Sickle Cell Anemia. Her mother’s dedication inspired Kiara to follow in her footsteps.
To future graduates, Kiara advises them to stay focused, work hard, and never give up—acknowledging that while there will be challenging times, the sense of accomplishment at the end is more than worth it. She also expresses her gratitude to her professor, Jeanette Liberty, for consistently motivating her throughout the course and reminding her of her strength.
