The CCPI CTE Fall 2019 Seminar provides an inside look at today’s ‘hottest’ jobs in the petrochemical and construction fields.

Houston’s job market continues to thrive, and it is no surprise that the surrounding petrochemical industries offer many lucrative employment opportunities. Local high school students interested in exploring the petrochemical and construction fields can look no further than the CCPI CTE Fall 2019 Seminar taking place Oct. 22 on the Central Campus.

This is the first time San Jacinto College will host the free event, which rotates between colleges partnered with the Community College Petrochemical Initiative (CCPI). CCPI is an organization that prepares the next generation of petrochemical workers in the upper Texas Gulf Coast.

Kimberly Adams, Executive Assistant of Continuing and Professional Development at San Jacinto College, said the goal of the event is to provide an inside look at today’s “hottest careers” in the petrochemical fields.

“What we are hoping to accomplish by this event is to promote petrochemical careers to the public school districts, increase the number of scholarships to students seeking training for petrochemical and industrial trade careers, and collaborate with other regional workforce initiatives,” she said.

Although there are many existing job opportunities, CCPI wants to cultivate skilled professionals that can adapt to plant regulations and demands. Adams said the seminar offers guidance so students can plan their educational path to “today’s well-paying, in-demand petrochemical careers.”

CCPI CTE 2019 Seminar takes place from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Oct. 22 in the Center for PetroChem, Energy, & Technology (C45) on the Central Campus.
