Spring Fling will take place rain or shine on the three academic campuses with a contingency plan to move the outdoor festivities inside in the event of inclement weather.

The office of Student Engagement and Activities (SEA) on the Central Campus is hosting Spring Fling 2019 on April 3 while SEA North and South Campuses scheduled their spring festivities for April 2 and 4, respectively.

Central Campus SEA Coordinator Amanda Rose said the yearly event is an opportunity “to get students engaged on campus.”

“It definitely brings that community feel,” Rose said. “We know when students feel connected to the campus… they’re more successful in their classes.”

This year, Audio Engineering will provide music, while other student organizations fundraise by selling food. Also, attendees will have the opportunity to take a picture on a big red chair or have their picture put on a balloon free of charge. Other activities include bubble soccer and soccer darts.

The weather will determine whether the events take place outside as planned, but in the event of rain, the festivities will move inside the Student Center buildings on each campus.

Throughout the year, SEA hosts many events and Rose encourages students to attend because in her view, “it brings that truly college feel.”

“I hope the biggest learning outcome is we have a community, that students have a community on campus,” Rose said. “It’s really up to them on how engaged they want to be.”

Spring Fling takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 2 (North Campus), April 3 (Central Campus), and April 4 (South Campus) in the courtyards outside of the Student Center buildings (N12, C14, S11) on all campuses.
