The North Campus community will be treated to a free concert by King Chi Au at noon on March 24 in the Grant Fine Arts Center.
San Jacinto College North Campus students, staff, and faculty will have the opportunity to attend a free concert March 24 featuring music professor and pianist King Chi Au. Au teaches piano classes as well as private lessons on the North Campus but also lends her talents to the campus’s chamber singers and Chorale.
Au’s concert is one in a series of shows, titled Fine Arts Friday, organized by the North Campus Fine Arts department for the past eight years.
Distinguished Professor and Director of Choral Activities, Edgar Moore, coordinates the performances for the Friday series that are put on up to six times per year. The concerts, which are also open to the surrounding communities and school districts, evolved from an effort toward community outreach, but have become a popular fixture on the North Campus.
“I expect the event to remain as an integral part of the North Fine Arts program,” Moore said.
Although Moore said he looks to grow the series further, he does not foresee any significant changes to the program in the immediate future.
“If it ain’t broke… don’t fix it,” Moore said. “My Hope is that we can continue to expand the diverse performances.”
The Fine Arts Friday concert featuring Prof. King Chi Au starts at noon on March 24 in the auditorium of the Charles Grant Fine Arts Center (N1) on the North Campus. There is no charge for admission.
