Coyote Soccer Advances to National Semifinals
The San Jac soccer team, pictured here in August, takes on Tyler Junior College Nov. 18 for a spot in the NJCAA National Championship finals.
San Jacinto College Men’s Soccer advanced to the NJCAA National Championship Semifinals after the Coyotes lost to Parkland College 2-1, but beat Cloud County Community College 3-0 in the playoffs on Nov. 14.
“We were in a group with Parkland College and Cloud County Community College, two strong sides that have both had a tremendous season,” Assistant Coach Pablo Reyes said.
Previously, at the District Championship, San Jac won 3-1 against Hinds Community College in Mississippi, to advance to the National Championship in Tyler.
“We went to Mississippi for a win, and the team did just that,” Reyes said. “The coaching staff is extremely proud of these guys for overcoming every obstacle to get to this point in the season.”
Reyes said he has high hopes for the rest of Nationals pointing out that the team has worked hard since Aug. 1 to get to this point.
“We are confident in not only our team’s ability,” he said, “but in their want and desire to achieve their goal.”
The Coyotes will play Tyler Junior College at 4 p.m. on Nov. 18 at the Pat Hartley Soccer Complex in Tyler.
