The Chorale, Chamber Singers, and Brass Ensemble will participate in a musical showcase taking place Nov. 30 on the North Campus.

San Jacinto College North Campus will celebrate the Christmas season with a holiday-themed concert Nov. 30 for all to enjoy while getting into the holiday spirit.

“This is our annual Holiday Choral Concert which we present every year in the fall semester,” music professor and Choral Activities Director Edgar Moore said.

The North Campus Chorale, Chamber Singers, and Brass Ensemble will participate in the student musical showcase.

“We give a concert each semester to highlight [the students’] talents and voices,” Moore said.

Moore has participated in this event for 23 years and said he views the growth in attendance over the years as a positive trend.

“It’s always a good idea for people to attend the concert to see what’s going on here at the College,” Moore said, “to see what we have to offer, especially in the area of choral music and vocal music.”

Likewise, North Campus music department professor Guillermo Hernandez said he enjoys the Holiday Choral Concert because of the interesting diversity of the musical lineup.

“I like that Professor Moore uses compositions from a variety of eras and genres,” Hernandez said. “He mixes traditional Christmas music, as well as works that are not so popular.”

Meanwhile, Moore said he welcomes the San Jac community to attend a “great event” that will put attendees in the holiday spirit.

The Holiday Choral Concert starts at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 30 in the auditorium of the Charles Grant Fine Arts Center (N1) on the North Campus. There is no charge for admission.
