Rec Sports at San Jacinto College Central Campus will host its annual Punt, Pass, and Kick (PPK) Contest March 2 to provide students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to interact with one another between classes.

The PPK contest features participants competing to kick, pass, and punt a football the greatest distance. There are separate divisions for men and women, and the two highest combined scores for all three activities will receive a prize.

According to Staff Assistant Mary Shelley, the program’s director Butch Sutton has organized PPK contests since the 1980s.

“They are a fun way to engage and interest students in Rec Sports,” she said.

Likewise, she noted events like PPK offer students “something new and different to try.”

Also, Shelley mentioned several notable happenings on the program’s calendar including an off-campus trip later in the semester.

“Rec Sports has many fun events coming up. A big one includes a canoe trip at Armand Bayou scheduled for April 9,” she added.

Meanwhile, Shelley said students interested in participating or volunteering can connect with them in a variety of ways.

“We are all over social media with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram,” she said. “Anyone is welcome to volunteer.”

The Punt, Pass, and Kick Contest will take place 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 2 on the courtyard in front of the Student Center (C14). More information is available at www.sanjac.edu/rec-sports.
