Andy Pettitte pitches against the Florida Marlins in 2006 during his tenure with the Houston Astros. The MLB star’s memorabilia will be up for auction Oct. 13 to raise money for San Jac student scholarships.
Celebrating a twenty-year milestone, the San Jacinto College Foundation is gearing up for its annual golf tournament taking place Oct. 13.
Hosted by retired MLB star and San Jac alum, Andy Pettitte, the tournament will also honor his numerous contributions to the Foundation.
The all-day event includes an afternoon of golf followed by a dinner reception and silent auction featuring keepsakes signed by MLB stars like Pettitte, Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, and CC Sabathia.
According to Coordinator Tammy McAdams, the Foundation has one goal; raising funds for students to pursue higher education.
“Seventy-seven percent of our students are first in their families to attend college and would be unable to attend college without the financial support provided through our scholarship program,” she said.
Furthermore, McAdams noted, without donations from outside sources, the Foundation would have a difficult time reaching its goals.
“We raise funds by partnering with individuals, corporations, and foundations to support student success through increased scholarships, program funding and through special initiatives,” she said.
Meanwhile, McAdams added, the tournament is a headlining event meant to bring attention to all the great work the Foundation does. “The San Jacinto College Foundation is here to serve our college and our community.”
The San Jacinto College Foundation Golf Tournament will take place at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. The reception will begin at 6:00 p.m.
