San Jacinto College will continue an old tradition under a new name when San Jac Rally takes place Oct. 29 outside the Student Center on Central campus.
Up until last year, the event was called Raven Rally but the name changed to support the vision of San Jac as one unified college with three campuses.
Amanda Rose, Student Life Coordinator for Central campus, said the rally “is a traditional fall event, where the organizations fundraise and the athletic teams are announced.”
Student clubs participate in the yearly festivity which features food, music, and a costume contest sponsored by the Student Government Association.
Rose said students eagerly await the rally. “It is one of the most anticipated events from the campus community,” she added.
According to San Jac student Jacob Smith, students across campus are enthusiastic to participate and display their pride at the rally.
“I’m excited that we get to show our school spirit. Go Ravens,” Smith said.
Similarly, fellow student Taylor Matheis shares Smith’s sentiment: “… since I myself am not an athlete, I am always happy to show my school spirit for those who are gifted enough to be athletic,” Matheis said.
Rose promises the rally will offer a good time to whoever attends, adding, “It’s fun, energetic, and allows students to be a part of the campus community.”
The San Jac Rally will take place Wednesday, Oct 29, in the courtyard outside of the Student Center.
