Foodie Nation: Dip it Real Good
Stephanie Jones/San Jacinto Times
A treat like this can make any football party Hall of Fame worthy.
Dip. The edible walk of shame. I’m sure during your years in school you saw, or were, the slacker that brought a dip in a jar as their food contribution for class parties.
Well, no more. It’s time to dip it.
First, let’s delve into some appetizers.
Kicker Pineapple Jalapeno Dip
One bell pepper, an onion, one jalapeno, a whole pineapple, and two tomatoes are all diced, topped with lime juice and cilantro and then mixed together to give you a little sweet with a touch of heat.
Jalapeno Popper Dip
A handful of chopped bacon, two eight ounce containers of cream cheese, four jalapenos, one cup of shredded cheddar and mozzarella topped with one roll of crushed Ritz crackers make a delicious, cheesy starter dish.
Warning! Warning! The following entrée dips are addictive.
Bacon Cheeseburger Dip
It is chock full of half a pound of ground beef, eight strips bacon, four ounces of cream cheese, two tablespoons of ketchup, half a cup of mozzarella, and half a cup of cheddar cheese. This sweet puppy is sure to blow your, and your guests’, taste buds.
Baked Pizza Dip
Yes, that’s right. Pizza dip. Full of one cup of tomatoes, eight ounces of cream cheese, one cup ricotta cheese, six ounces mozzarella cheese, and one teaspoon of garlic served over Ritz crackers for a mouth-watering meal.
Now, for all of the sweet-teethers out there, we have some dessert dips.
Brownie Batter Dip
Up to bat first: eight ounces of softened cream cheese, two cups powdered sugar, ¼ cup cocoa, and three tablespoons brown sugar topped with a handful of chocolate chips are guaranteed to fulfill your chocolate cravings.
Peanut Butter Dip
This is better known as the Peanut Butter “Cheese Ball.” You may feel a little guilty as you devour this concoction of eight ounces cream cheese, ¾ cup peanut butter, and three tablespoons of brown sugar packed, rolled, and covered with chocolate and peanut butter chips.
For a reasonable price, you can turn your walk of shame into a hall of fame. Again on Pinterest, there is a never-ending supply of simple, quick, and easy recipes to make your dip a hit. You will have friends, even friends’ grandmothers, asking for your dip recipes.
So together, let’s dip it and dip it real good this football season.
